Fish Report

Watauga River, Elizabethton, TN Today there was no generation from Wilbur Dam. The air temp was low 50's, a cold front moved through over the weekend. Days have been fairly warm and pleasant and the nights chilly. The March Browns have started hatching from the Riverbend Launch Site up through Hunter Bridge Launch Site. They were of good size, around 16 to 14 with the hatch occuring from 2:00pm 3:30pm and sporadic after that. But the action wasn't on top, there were fish rising all day but I suspect that they were eating the emergers just before making it to the surface. The rises were more rolls just below the surface. So rainbows were caught mainly just to the outside of the seams and scum flow. Dropper rigs w/ Princes, Pheasant Tails w/ blue beadheads were the winners. 9' 5wt rod w/ 9 foot leaders 5x is the recommended rod
